Mr. Arthur Irving

Chairman Emeritus

As the Chairman Emeritus of Irving Oil, Mr. Arthur Irving continues to maintain a respected advisory role for the Board and its activities.

Ian Whitcomb

President

Ian Whitcomb is the President of Irving Oil. In addition to day-to-day company management and the relationship with our Board of Directors, Mr. Whitcomb is responsible for guiding our strategy and keeping our company focused on its goals. 

Ian brings a deep understanding of our company through more than 30 years of working with Irving Oil in his role with Deloitte.  Mr. Whitcomb has held a variety of leadership roles, including sitting on the board of Deloitte Canada. Mr. Whitcomb is a graduate of Dalhousie University and became a Chartered Accountant in 1982.  He is deeply committed to the success of our company.

Kevin Scott

Chief Refining and Supply Officer

Kevin Scott is responsible for all Refining Operations at Irving Oil’s Saint John and Whitegate facilities, as well as the Company’s Products & Terminals Operations. This team safely and reliably refines, stores and transports our products.

Prior to this role, Kevin was Irving Oil’s Chief Human Resources Officer. He has also led the Company’s Public Affairs and Supply & Trading teams. He joined Irving Oil in 1992 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. 

He and his wife have four children who keep them active with sports, theatre and music. In the community, Kevin volunteers with youth sports and economic development.

Darren Gillis

Chief Marketing Officer

Darren Gillis leads Irving Oil’s Sales & Marketing Operations including Retail Sales as well as Commercial and Home Heat businesses, Wholesale & Specialty Sales, Trucking and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Darren also holds responsibility for Property Management associated with our retail sites. 
 
Prior to this role, Darren served as General Manager of Irving Energy, leading our residential and commercial marketing business.
 
Darren’s career with Irving Oil spans more than 30 years and includes a number of leadership, project and strategy development roles. He has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Prince Edward Island with a major in Marketing. 
 
Darren and his wife, Leeanne, have three children.

Jennifer Beach

Chief Human Resources & Corporate Administration Officer

Jennifer Beach is responsible for leading Human Resources across Irving Oil, in addition to overseeing the areas of Corporate Governance and Administration. 

Prior to this role, Jennifer was a Partner at Deloitte where she provided her clients, including Irving Oil, a wide-range of Advisory services drawing on her diverse experience in the areas of Enterprise Risk and Consulting. Jennifer obtained her Certified Management Accountant designation in 2000 and has served on CMA New Brunswick’s Practical Experience Evaluation and Review Committee and the Public Accounting Committee.  

Jennifer currently serves as a Board Member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick.

Jeff Matthews

Chief Financial Officer

Jeff Matthews is responsible for all financial services at Irving Oil, along with the execution of all new business development opportunities for the company.

In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Jeff deals with financial planning and strategy, financial performance and stewardship, treasury, taxation, supply management, investments in joint ventures, new business development and government relations/environmental affairs.

Jeff joined Irving Oil 24 years ago and holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick. He earned his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 1994 while working with Deloitte & Touche.

He and his wife, Cindy, have two children.

John Laidlaw

Chief Legal Officer

John Laidlaw is the Chief Legal Officer of Irving Oil. In addition to overseeing Irving Oil’s Legal team, John manages the company’s Corporate Security and Corporate Real Estate teams. 

Prior to joining Irving Oil, he practiced law with the law firm of Cox & Palmer where he held a variety of leadership positions. 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Allison University and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of New Brunswick. 

John and his wife, Sharon, have four children.

Kelley Greer White

Chief Information Officer

Kelley Greer White is Irving’s Chief Information Officer, responsible for Information Technology strategy, cybersecurity, architecture and operations for systems across the Irving Oil enterprise. 

Prior to joining the company in 2016, Kelley worked extensively in IT for Oil and Gas and other industries in Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Alberta. She has led multinational teams with responsibilities for supporting infrastructure and applications for all aspects of the business, including IT for megaprojects, offshore production, multiple refineries and midstream assets and retail sites. Kelley is originally from Newfoundland and Labrador and attended Memorial University for both her undergraduate degree and MBA. She also holds a post-graduate diploma in Applied Information Technology.

Peter McNay

Chief Strategic Program Delivery Officer

Peter McNay is responsible for our Building Operations team, Engineering Services team and for leading the program delivery of complex strategic programs for the organization, including our Energy Transition and ESG programs.

Peter joined Irving Oil in 2018 and was previously responsible for leading our Supply Management and Building Operations teams. Prior to joining Irving Oil, Peter was a Partner at Deloitte Canada, and held several roles in that organization during his tenure.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Engineering and Management from Edinburgh Napier University, and a Master of Science in Facilities Management from Heriot-Watt University.
